What is the most efficient way to unlock all of the class skills? Do you have to play through the PvE portion three times as each dual-class to get all the skills? Or is there a more efficient way?
When I try to create a PvP character, I have access only to the default character-build skills... is the only way to get access to more to unlock them one by one?
|
you get the skills of the class you are roleplaying only
going through 3 times with a different dual might be quickest or if some combination does not work for you take your best primary and hook the troublesome secondary to it
also think which professions you will actually want and go for those first
if the goal is simply to have them all
go for it

*****SPOILER ALERT*****
DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT A PART OF THE GAME SPOILED
Well if you manage to make a great build with only your primary class (let's say... warrior) you can start off with one secondary (let's say... monk since it's very easy to play) and then switch the monk to the other classes after 'ascension'.

When you change secondaires that way though, do the previous seconbdary skills still stay unlocked?
For example if you delete an rp character the unlocked skills from that character go locked. I wonder if it is the same changing secondaries later on.
I am just putting all 6 into 3 rp chars for a fully unlocked 4th slot for pvp.
1 ele/mes
2 mon/ran
3 war/nec
4 pvp goodness
the mon ranger is tough atm because I thought traps would unlock alot earlier. Alos missing some of the key nature spirits for my startegy.

They stay unlocked. This enables you can get every skill in the game with a single RP character, I think.

How do you unlock new class skills though? Just purchasing them or little quests, do they auto-unlock from the previous quests completed and the skills earned there, or can you technically do them again for the same result?
Plus, are you able to do multiple changes? I really couldn't care on getting others, I plan to change and stay that way.

Ok another question along these lines would be: If I had an elementalist primary and did all the secondary class quests, is there any limit (number of times I can switch back and forth or go back to my original primary class) to switching out my secondary classes?
If understand what has been said previously you could have one character go through the whole game and unlock all the skills via switching out the secondary to get / capture those secondary class skills.

Is there some official documented rules that talk about this somewhere? I havent been able to find anything in the book or on the guildwars website. I think this is the most complicated undocumented aspect of the game if what you are saying is correct.
I think I would much rather be inclined to use one character to unlock all the secondary skills if this is possible by switching out the secondary class multiple times. Though I can just imagine how boring it would be to level up through each of these skills at lvl 20...for instance running back through the Catacombs.

to unlock a skill for pvp only characters you must complete a non story line quest that offers it as a reward, therefore you can only collect the skills of your two classes, if you were to do that with one secondary then switch it after you've done all the quests you would nullify switching because you wouldn't unlock any skills, you'd be able to buy any availible for your new secondary but it wouldn't help you in pvp other than battling through your rp char

False. Any skill you buy from a trainer is "unlocked as well"
You have two options: 1) make 3 dual class RP characters or 2) just change your secondary profession via the quest post ascenscion (later part of the game) and buy all the skills from all the trainers and then switch to another secondary via a similar quest.

I just got the game today and still very confused about the game play. Let me get this straight...
I have to play every single class to unlock the skills so I can use them using my PvP char?
Right now I have Monk/Ranger. Does that mean I have to play a Ranger/something in order to unlock ALL of my secondary class' skills?
I noticed you guys are saying you can switch primary-secondary class, but I dont think I wanna do it >.>
Any enlightment would be most appreciated!

i haven't made it to 20 yet, so this is just from what i've gathered reading this forum.
you play up to level 20 as your Monk/Ranger and collect/capture all of the monk/ranger skills. at level 20 there are quests to change your secondary skill. you can then buy from trainers and capture all the skills for your new secondary. this can then be repeated for the remaining classes.
is this correct?

Correct. You can get all the skills using just one character.

It will just take a really really long time. To unlock all the skills with 1 character you need to level at 20 more then a few times to gain enough skillpoints to learn all the skills. It can be a real grind but if you really want to unlock all the skills goodluck man.
